We waited until evening to come visit Connor today so that Mike could wear sunglasses and have the NICU lights off or dimmed to be easier on his eyes and concussion. Connor had a new poster today, welcoming him to the "kilo club," because he finally weighs 1kg!
We also got to celebrate Mike's first time holding Connor. They both loved every second of it. Our nurse was nice enough to be our photographer as well.
Connor did very well last night and today. The only hiccup he had was that he had a couple lesions that showed up on his legs with red rings around them. Connor's doctor ordered ultrasounds on the areas to look for blood clots and they did another culture of his blood to lookfor infection. The areas were where IV sites were previously so they think he might have cellulitis, an infection of the skin and the tissues beneath the skin, caused by normal skin bacteria getting into an open wound. This would not be a problem for a normal person, but Connor has no immunity at the moment so infections are very common. He was started back on an IV antibiotic called vancomycin to combat any infection.
