Connor has made LOADS of progress this week and is proving everyone wrong in how quickly he can mature.
He weighs 4 pounds, 11 ounces as of Monday. His feeds are now up to 42 mL every three hours. He got so big that they moved him from his isolette into a "big boy" crib yesterday afternoon. He is smiling lots and has huge dimples in his cheeks just like his daddy did. I heard him let out a real cry for the first time today.
The PEEP setting on his ventilator was decreased to 8.2 over the weekend and he tolerated it well. Then they decreased it again to 7.1 yesterday. He is doing SO well on 7.1 that they are decreasing it again tonight to 6.0 and will see how he does. This is HUGE because the general plan was to decrease 1 PEEP per week until he can become stable at 4 or 5, which will probably be when he can be taken off the ventilator. He is now 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
He had his eyes rechecked for ROP on Monday and Mike and I were both very anxious about this. However, Connor has now regressed to Stage 2 ROP in both eyes and the new vessels are between zones 1 and 2, and the doctor said both eyes are "looking good." :D

Yeah!!! Huge gains, and excellent news on his eyes. He really wants that big boy crib.
ReplyDeleteYou look so happy, and that is good to see too.
