I have been sitting here with Connor for the last few days marveling at how far we have come and how many obstacles have been tackled to get us to this point. I have been thinking about how lucky our family is and all the things I am so unbelievably grateful for. Here are just a few of them.
I am so thankful:
1. For steroid injections that develop lungs and close up holes in hearts.
2. For doctors and nurses who do amazing, life-saving work every day.
3. For breast milk.
4. For oxygen.
5. For endotracheal tubes, ventilators and the life-saving beeps of monitors.
6. For the opening of new eyes and the ability to see.
7. For the sounds of tiny squeaks and grunts.
8. For intestines that digest properly.
9. For social workers that understand and care.
10. For smiles.
11. For family and friends that stay away when they are sick.
12. For family and friends that cooked and cleaned and comforted when they were well.
13. For PICC lines and IV Iines to minimize pokes.
14. For brains and hearts that mend on their own.
15. For soft prayers uttered around the world.
16. For the ability to still hold a tiny baby that is covered in wires and tubes.
17. For perseverance.
18. For the most amazing, kind, understanding and strong husband anyone could wish for.
19. For canine companionship- soft ears to cry into and paws to hold.
20. For patience.
21. For blood and blood donors.
22. For hugs.
23. For numbing eye drops to make exams less horrible.
24. For tiny sutures that fix hernias.
25. For photographs that capture precious memories.
26. For the ability to love.
27. For a chance.
28. For a miracle.
:)
