Connor is doing great this week and we are loving his new pod. We even got a room with a window and it is much more private!
He is doing well on the nasal cannula and really only seems to to desat around the halfway mark of his feedings when his stomach gets so full that it pushes up on his lungs. This week we are working on weaning him down on the high flow rate on the nasal cannula so that we can take it off.
He will also be getting his meals over shorter time periods to prepare him for oral feeds. They are currently giving him 51mL over an hour, every three hours and we obviously want him to become more efficient so feeding him doesn't take 8 hours a day!
He also has another eye exam tomorrow so we will update on that tomorrow. Connor is such an easy going guy. The nurse he had today had not worked with him before and was just getting to know him this morning. She asked me if he is better with me there to do his routine bloodwork and if she should wait for me today because she didn't want to give him a bad experience and make him cry. I told her he really doesn't cry for anything yet- even the eye exams were his head is restrained and his eyelids are forced open with instruments. She went ahead with the bloodwork and when I came to visit said, "You were right! He didn't cry at all!"
That's our brave boy. :D
